Our practice provides comprehensive neurosurgical care for adult patients. Dr. Stechison is Board Certified in both the United States and Canada by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, and the Royal College Of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada) respectively. He has been both an educator and a practitioner of neurosurgery since 1989.

Our practice offers particular clinical areas of expertise in brain tumor surgery, trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, and cranial nerve disorders. In addition we treat back and neck pain. If you have failed all forms of conservative treatment then we provide the full spectrum of spine surgery in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar area ranging from minimally invasive microsurgical discectomy to complex instrumented spinal fusions. We also offer a minimally invasive treatment for osteoporotic or traumatic wedge compression vertebral fractures that involves placement of an actual bone graft but does not require an incision.

We believe strongly in the capacity of the body to heal itself in many situations. Our philosophy stresses non-surgical managements whenever possible. We believe that medical conditions and outcomes are influenced by the power of positive thought and the beneficial effects of a good attitude. We stress communication skills in our interactions with patients and families. We believe that with the right kind of explanation, everyone should be able to understand what is wrong with them and what treatment strategies exist. We believe in education of our patients and in helping them make their best informed decision in the management of their brain or spinal problems.

Our practice is affiliated with Dr. Cheryl Gratton who offers psychotherapy as well as neuropsychological and psychological evaluation services at our Midtown location.
